On behalf of our employees, retirees and customers, Gary Murray, President and CEO, presented a $250,000 Power of Life gift in support of the In This Together Campaign to build a new Chemotherapy Unit at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. This donation will help transform the delivery of cancer care for the people in our province.

September 2022 marks the 20th Anniversary of Power of Life. Over the last 20 years over $5.1 million has been raised to support cancer patients and their families in our province. In honour of these incredible milestones, our employees donated $15,000 to the Patient and Family Support Fund, which will cover the requests for assistance from cancer patients across the province who are facing financial difficulty as a result of a cancer diagnosis for the entire month of September.

A large portion of the funds raised through Power of Life goes toward purchasing much-needed cancer treatment equipment. We are committed to bringing leading-edge technology to the province while ensuring cancer treatment facilities are equipped to meet patients' needs. From investments in advanced treatment and diagnostic equipment to enhancements that improve comfort and support for patients and their families, Power of Life has helped ensure people in Newfoundland and Labrador have access to cancer care closer to home.
In addition to providing the physical and tangible necessities of cancer care, we believe in supporting patients and their families in ways that foster emotional and mental well-being. We fund initiatives such as Healing Art Therapy Murals, toys for pediatric radiation patients, therapeutic gardens, and assistance with essential expenses, including travel, accommodations, and meals for those facing financial hardship. Through these investments, Power of Life helps provide comfort, reduce stress, and support patients and families throughout their cancer journey.
Educating the public about the importance of early detection and the benefits of screening programs is also a key focus of Power of Life. We have partnered with a number of screening programs such as, prostate cancer screening, PAP testing and colorectal cancer screening.
